about
I wanted to try a few different things with this song, a bit more of an earnest "stand up for something song" but also on the recording end - no percussion and some vocal effects. An interesting experiment.
lyrics
If only trees could give us wifi we might think twice about how we feel when they die
Unfortunately they only give us air to breathe
If only the ocean was liquid gold
Maybe we’d do exactly what we are told
Maybe we wouldn't dump all our plastic in the sea
Take nothing but photos
Leave nothing but the outline of your shoes
I’m not trying to save the world
Just home
If unpolluted air to pay for what we wanna buy
Maybe you’d care more what you put into the sky
But as it stands it seems we prefer looking down
If coffee was disappearing at the same speed as the caps
Would you pay more attention perhaps
Can you imagine the outrage when your ristretto doubles in price?
But we are all just animals
And we’ve gotta make
Some choices for the future
I’ve done some reading and all through space
As far as I know there’s no other habitable place
